Rose Ann Cook

Fabric > Designer > Rose Ann Cook

Rose Ann Cook began quilting right out of high school when she sewed one simple quilt using cardboard templates, scissors and double knit fabric.  She reports that, “It is now in a landfill somewhere trying really hard to biodegrade.”  In 1992, she saw a sing on a quilt top hanging in a quilt shop claiming, “Make this quilt top in one day!”  She signed up for the class, indeed made the top in one day using modern quilting tools, and was hooked!

Rose Ann retired from St. Agnes Academy, where she served as Director of Technology, soon after she opened her quilt shop, Quilter’s Emporium, in 2004.  The move from the original location of Sugar Land to Stafford, Texas, more than doubled the size of her store.  Quilter’s Emporium was honored by American Patchwork and Quilting magazine as a Top Ten shop in their Fall 2010 issue of Quilt Sampler magazine.  The shop has hosted popular annual quilting cruises sailing from Galveston since 2004.  Rose Ann is excited to share her original designs and stories of her father’s family with interested readers in her book Czecherboard Quilts.
