Back Cover:
Fabric amounts based on fabric 40" wide. Fabric amounts are rounded up to the next 1/8 yard. Get extra if you want to allow for shrinkage or for cutting insurance.
Fabric Requirements:
Smaller Quilt - 64-1/2" x 78"
Fabric A - White: 1 yard
Fabric B - Black: 3-1/2 yards
Jelly Roll (or group of 2-1/2" strips) - 38 strips - or 30 strips, see note below*
Backing - 4-3/4 yards
Larger Quilt - 82" x 95-1/2"
Fabric A - White: 1-3/8 yards
Fabric B - Black: 5-1/8 yards
Jelly Roll (or group of 2-1/2" strips) - 40 strips
Backing - 7-1/2 yards
*for the small quilt, we used 38 strips. This was enough for the binding for the quilt. There were leftover pieces here and there as we tried to maximize variety in the top. You can get away with only 30 strips (including binding with just a little leftover. Adjust cutting directions to suit.
Optional Tools: Large square ruler (14" or larger)
Optional Binding: If you prefer to buy additional fabric for the binding instead of using strips from your jelly roll, get 5/8 yards for the smaller quilt or 3/4 yards for the larger quilt.
